What can you do for me?

Community Services
Offer a wide range of support to assist elderly people remain at home. Services can include personal services such as; assistance with showering, oversight of medications, meal preparation, personal and grooming, gardening, house work, ironing, shopping and transport to appointments.

Respite - Norman House
Support for carers by providing respite for their care recipient from a half day to 5 continuous days and 4 nights.

Community Lifestyle Centre - Payneham
Provides a range of support services including; podiatry, physiotherapy and a wide range of exercise classes.

What does it cost?

Community Packages
Our Community Packages charge a standard fee recommended by the Commonwealth Department of Health which is based on 17.5% of the single pension.

For people who have additional income, the charge may increase and for those who have a significant amount of additional health or accommodation related expenses, the charge may decrease.

Fees are indexed with the pension on a bi-yearly basis.

Respite - Norman House
Respite overnight costs $36 for the care recipient and $24 for the carer. Day rates are $16 for the full day and $8 for a half day.

For carers who can prove financial hardship, the fees will be reviewed by the Coordinator.

Community Lifestyle Centre - Payneham
The Community Lifestyle Centre - Payneham provides a range of support services including; podiatry, physiotherapy and a wide range of exercise classes. Fees are based on the type and duration of the service required.

How many hours/days can I get assistance?

Community Services
Support for people to remain in their own home can range up to 5 hours per week (including weekends for a Community Aged Care Package (CACP’s) and up to 15 hours for an Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) package. Some clients receive a daily visit others receive visits on specific days to suit their needs.

Do you do gardening or outside jobs?

Yes, however, the time allocated to gardening is limited to a small percentage of the overall package.

Will the same person(s) be visiting?

Yes, however we will allocate more than one person to cover for our staff in case of sickness or annual leave.

Will I have some choice in the people who visit me, to provide the service?

Yes, within the limits of the staff we employ. We will recommend a number of staff whom we think will most appropriately address your needs and you will be asked to make the final decision.

If during the course of our service to you, you ask for a change of staff, we will recommend a suitable replacement.

What happens if I am dissatisfied with the service?

A number of options are available to you:

  • Tell your Community Worker who will raise any issues with the service coordinator
  • If the problem is with the staff member - talk directly to the coordinator
  • Talk directly to the general manager community care
  • Talk directly to the administration of Life Care
  • Contact Commonwealth Government Agencies
  • Seek support to a number of Aged Rights organisation based in Adelaide

Note: Life Care Community Care - Services, supports the concept of continuous improvement and we would encourage clients who are dissatisfied with our service to make their concerns known to the appropriate person/organisation to enable the concerns to be promptly rectified.

How do I become a volunteer?

Life Care has over 300 volunteers across our Aged Care Facilities and at Norman House.

In order to become a volunteer with Life Care a National Police Certificate is essential, if you are over 16 years of age - Life Care organises this for you free of charge.

We are continually welcoming new volunteers to join Life Care.
